Night time officially rolled around the corner and readiness of leaving comfort were little to none, yet sadly inescapable. You didn’t want to be bothered of all nights or any night like this one, surmising how to keep them away.  You were provoked in majority of conflicts. Honestly you didn’t want to get out of character, but people were trying your patience. If you hoped to make through tonight with your sanity, you vowed to simply ignore them all.

If it were easier said than done.

After departure with Irene, you wandered these unfamiliar halls a second time until reaching homeroom where you were greeted by the teacher. Your ear perked up to indistinct whispering minute after stepping foot inside. From first glance, there weren’t many students alas distinctive assortments of hair stood out amongst the spotted crowd. They were all present.

Not even seconds after getting settled in your seat when you picked up laughter from behind her, a swirl of anger building in your core. Ignore it. Don’t give them what they want.

“Oi, cardboard girl!”

Before any accumulation of anger built up, you plugged in her earbuds, a gratifying smile plastered upon her face. Adamant, you determine to have a better yesterday tonight, here to do what you came for then leave. Consumed by tunes and ignoring the intensity penetrating your head, you suddenly slid your gaze, immediately noticing Yui’s resting form, arms cradling her head to the desk. Must be having a rough night, too.

You turn back to the front, except halting when a presence stood nearby, inadvertently sealed yout eyes in fervent ones of another. Blinking slowly while extracting an earbud, confused as to why you’re being stared at for no apparent reason.

“Hello.” Lavender pupils brimmed in excitement, reflecting your questioning stare. Level one offense has been breached being the boy stood too close for comfort.  You remembered him. One with emotions that changed like the four seasons in just a couple of seconds. His intent stare wasn’t exactly comforting either. Regardless, you carefully return the favor.

“Hi…?” apparently the uncertainty detected in your voice did not sit well for this particular character, visage becoming crestfallen.

“Why do you h-hate me?” waterworks arrive, streaming down his pallid cheeks becoming tinted red. Nobody can imagine how stumped you presently felt. A bizarre reaction exchanged between them yesterday hardly acquainted them. You knew nothing of this boy except outward aspect of antiquated attire and clutching his bear enough to squeeze the stuffing out of it. Above all was it ever the intent to make him cry.

“No, that’s not—“

“—YOU LIAR!” he screeched, gritting his teeth just about causing your heart to leap, dialogue especially earsplitting being close within range. “I saw the way you looked at me. Like you hated my guts. Am I that repelling?!”

As predicted, he threw a temper tantrum like some spoiled brat and practically pinning blame on you for…

…what?

No apparent reason.

With a blend of impatience and tomfoolery, you boiled over, shooting up from your seat, unrelenting to confront his flaming eyes.

“I wouldn’t speak to you, if that were the case!” You shouted, inadvertently drawing attention your way. “Honestly you’re just being irritating now!”

His face immediately dropped and sound collapsed into silence.  A person who inhabited such erratic behavior, you couldn’t be certain what to expect next, in lingering observation. In a blink of an eye, those purple eyes of his began dilating violently with his body. Guard shot up in a matter of seconds, as he appeared like he was going to explode in any given moment.

“Irritating…” he mused, as if the word was foreign to him, his head lowered and gazed out at nothing particular, making you quirk a brow. Just so it seem, he became disconnected, far off somewhere else and leaving you in a rooted edginess. In due time, life flooded back within his eyes, lifting his stare to you once more. “You find me… irritating?”

If the deep creases in your face wasn’t plenty evident. “Screaming at people is unnecessary. I don’t know you at all to make presumptions like that.”

Shortly his posture was unmoving, a transforming wicked smile into crazed laughter that succeed in sending uncomfortable chills down your spine. “Such an interesting girl you are. I’m convinced you’re telling the truth.”

And from that being said, he turned on a heel and began to stride away. Left behind on the other hand, you stood, seemingly unable to make sense of what transpired seconds before. Just as you worked out the kinks, the odd guy suddenly stopped to slide an unsettling stare back where you stood, a thin upward lining of wickedness crocked on his face.

Your teeth clenched, fighting against the eye twitch threatening to arise. Without doubt, that kid’s a real piece of work.

A lesson and a period later, class conclude right in the blink of an eye. It seemed odd no one went out their way to pester you. Not that you complained, however such occurrences were a different story. Just come to show people followed crowds whenever an opportunity graced them, regardless of whatever it was. How simple-minded they are. Why associate with a group like that? Unaccompanied ease sounded like a perfect plan.

Unlike most already foot out the door, you didn’t rush (alongside remaining classmates) and packed her bag in a leisured manner since dismal bell practically run seconds ago. You had the gist of getting to classes just fine though chances are of encountering anyone unwanted is a reason enough to linger a few moments behind.

The homeroom teacher coming back in became a clear indication of an overstayed welcome and high time to get going. With a glum inclination and heavy sigh, you raised up into the aisle and turned to leave when your peripheral line caught sight of an ordinary pink notepad aligning the desk across from her. You blinked once, happened to realize the possession and not the owner of it anywhere nearby.

“Ah.” Reaching to pick it up to cradle within your arm, you strode forward outside the classroom. “Hopefully this is nothing important. Ah, no matter, we’ll eventually see each other at lunch anyways.”

From what you remembered Yui was quiet and lackluster, out cold on her desk. Not that you didn’t blame her, anyhow. People knew what they were getting themselves involved in, except you, facing a challenge to adapt to an academic nightlife. Granted others fell asleep in class and whilst no sun is around, people were susceptible to dusk’s sleep spell. Despite not knowing Yui well, a niggling tapped into your subconscious, stirring unanticipated unease in your heart. Best be the last thing her blonde associate overlooked tonight.

Furthermore now reaching the peak of night, lunch rolled around no problem much to your surprise. Even coming into your class which had that trio of bothersome people with exception of that redheaded ingrate unrelenting in his advances or due to the fact your actual English teacher was present instead of some smartass assuming self-righteousness for classroom protocol, sitting amongst every student and surrendered his upper hand. Nothing mattered, not since reclusive plugs of music shred every care away up until now.

All but a distance memory.

As for current, you went wandering about set on finding Yui to return her lost item. So it could be meaningless or contained harbored hours devoted notes within. Whatever the case, you still needed to find Yui. Under given circumstances of this monochromic evening, let it a notebook be one less article of anxiety amongst other things. Speaking of.

Building frustration began consuming you after several of minutes passing and not a spotting of that infernal girl anywhere. It made matters worse not knowing any of Yui’s classes, basically running like headless chicken through numerous hallways. You were left to fend for yourself, not knowing of Irene’s whereabouts. Could be in the lunchroom for all you knew.

Eventually every door and hall were looking mighty similar for far too long, leading you to consider your possibly looking all in the wrong places. After lingering in middle the hall officially decided trying your luck there, concluding this failed effort while pivoting around.

You huffed, Great, all this for nothing. Quite a laugh should I find her there.

Executing a mere short stride forward, did the your earshot capture a rather strange sound. Left ear twitched and your attention drift in same direction to regard a slightly cracked open door. Rooted there in place and perceiving more bizarre noise, a badgering curiosity surface in your mind. Your body moved without giving much thought whether or not it’d be a good idea to do so, squinting your (e/c) orb between the crack of the door.

And all at once, your face beamed a bright red and regret flooded into your core from disbelief of the newfound discovery. In a vacant classroom, clothes of two figures tousled against each other amongst an alignment of desks with part of their uniform jackets torn away from their bodies. Coming across two students getting passionate is only partially what you fixated on. But given the fact, who you uncovered in this moment.

“The fun just started and you seem deadbeat tired. Little bitch.”

“I—I don’t feel well. Please, n-no… more.”

That fedora adorning guy from your English class, had Yui sprawled underneath him, trepidation stretched across her features as he’s trailing his tongue over the contours of her exposed neck. You could see the visible distress but had to wonder whether or not to intervene. For someone who clearly far from okay with this situation, attempted at nothing to knock the creep off of her. Almost as if she wanted this.

“You waste all that energy for Ayato, now that’s unfair.” He hummed darkly, curling his moist appendage against Yui’s ear, emitting a helpless squeak from her mouth. A swift hold on the blonde’s chin forced her eyes to clash against sinister emerald ones, stripping whatever sanity left away. “But don’t worry. My turn will be better yet.”

Fully registering everything said, all you felt at this point is disappointment. It hadn’t occurred at all Yui partook in doing this kind of thing with different guys, let alone at school. Then again, you had met her only yesterday. Perhaps, the school rumors weren’t farfetched as it seemed. This scene indicate that more steam and heatedness are not that far ahead and in no way did you want to be a witness of the unfolding.

Casting one last glance toward Yui, who, to her alarming realization, reflected you back in her shocked pink irises. What’s more is that hers hadn’t been the only pair to do so.

“What have we here? A spy.”

You were found out.

But before you could step back and escape, the classroom door leading inside swiftly flew ajar and in a flash, you felt a frozen grip seized your wrist roughly, hulling you inside. Heart spiked from fright without a chance to process being slammed into a hard surface, meeting gazes before aforesaid guy, his heavier weight and larger hand bind your wrists above her.

“My, if it isn’t little lamb.” Laito crooned, making you shudder violently once his stare swirled down your form. “Probing into people’s business, hm? I just might punish you.”

You didn’t like where this was leading to, thrashing to break free out of his grip and reacting frantically when he ran his free calloused hand about your bare thigh, arising goosebumps on every inch of your body. “Get off of me at once!”

Your attempt was futile at this point, Laito hardly put up a fight in keeping as he stopped your blood cold hovering that ink thin smirk in closer proximity of your face, knee jut and successfully hiked up your skirt placing it between your legs.

“Now, don’t be unappreciative. You wanted attention and I fully intend on giving it to you.”

Shakily letting out a snarl, you stayed unrelenting at getting away. “You’re freaking crazy if you think I want this! Stop it now!”

He entirely disregard your remark and continued inching his hand higher along your thigh, increasing this feeling of helplessness and being dominated. All else failed up until dreadful remembrances flood into your conscious, this renewed and acquainted feeling managed to shatter your peaceful state of mind. You had to get away, at whatever costs.

Just when Laito did anything else, you recalled your current position with either one of your legs unrestricted. Raising your gaze up just enough and spotted the opening, not wasting a second driving your knee upward.

Right in between Laito’s legs.

He cupped his hands there before letting out a deep guttural moan, growing even paler than his already pale complexion. Once he fell and toppled to the ground, you bolted upright and flew out the open door, far too panicked to look back and see if he’s on your trail.

Right now you couldn’t wrap around anything in a wild sprint, the hallways blurred past. There’s absolutely no way you intended on slowing down fearful of being recaptured. But actually considering he might be just inches from grabbing you from behind, made you wonder if your current speed was enough. And thus compelled you to look over your shoulder.

Little did you know what great mistake you created in doing so. Colliding into something hard and tumbling against the ground. In a brief daze, you recovered and peel away from the floor, flaring of pain coursed through her back. Eyes trained on the figure besides her.

“Ow… what’s the big idea?”

Coming to realize it was none other than Irene, did nothing in placing you at a better state of mind. Now both were susceptible to danger. Jumping up, Irene hadn’t said anything being forced along in a sprint alongside you, disregarding her yelling protests until seeking cover in a random cramped up janitor’s closet. Listening to each other’s rough panting, not bothering exchanging words for several minutes where at that point stabilized yourselves, Irene question aloud.

“What was that all about?”

A pause dragged out amidst of your figuring thoughts. If anything, you couldn’t bring herself to relay what you experienced, worried about dragging her into something unnecessary. Even though, Irene caught sight of your troubled expression and be damned letting it go by unnoticed.

I wish she wasn’t so damn nosy, sometimes. You swallow as much nervousness then proceeded. “I—I came across two people.” Intrigue rose Irene’s brows, giving a swift nod for you to continue. Becoming tongue-tied at the thought of using words to defile your mouth, both hands rub your face agitatedly. “I r-really don’t want to go into details—“

“Pfftt,” an amused grin stretch across Irene’s countenance, seemingly caught onto your implication, “oh god, you’re like a gentle kitten and—“ folding arms across her torso, she guaffed off, annoying you  in the process. After a while, she then wiped fresh tears squeezed out of her eye, inhaling deeply. “Who exactly did you see?”

Also another thing that’s better left unsaid. This truth would make Irene well up in jealousy. And plus, you prefer to forget about it altogether, anyways. “To be fair, all I saw was something suggestive and high tailed. I didn’t want to get caught.”

“What?  Didn’t even glimpse at their faces?” Irene tilt her head sideways to which you merely shook your head.

“It’d be stupid to stand there and watch, y’know.” You said, matter-of-fact. It was risky and your’re especially fortunate to make it out when you did. Unpleasant shudders roll down your spine. “Besides, the sight damaged me enough.”

After getting her off your case, they linger in moments longer of the stuff broom closet when the blonde spoke up once more. “Half of lunch’s probably over already.”

At going out in the open was sincerely unnerving. Which meant likelihood of being spotted by that lewd ginger gave all the reason not to abandon this retreat. “We can’t leave. What if they’re still out there looking for me?”

Now taking heed of this consideration, it didn’t take much convincing Irene particularly if you felt this much unease. And as several minutes spun by, a bell sound traveled through the air, indicating that lunch has come to an end. You exit the dark confided room a second after, sight flood with fluorescent lights. Fortunately incoming students never would’ve guessed you spent an entire period in a stuffy closet.

Just in time before the hallways became congested with people Irene fleered and placed a hand upon you shoulder.

“Try to stay out of cracked doorways, okay?”

Your eyes narrow. “Shut up before I run you across this floor. Stupid.”

And with those words, parted down separate directions. There wasn’t urgency rushing to class being simply gym, so pace went in a leisure manner. Now becoming increasingly aware after each passing step, suddenly stopped right in your tracks. Gym, rung loudly in your mind. One thing you hadn’t look forward to at all, by given circumstances yesterday.

Above all, it’s the last class of tonight. A part was telling you to ignore and endure, to follow through when you actually wanted to drop kick it to the curb. Tonight had been way better compared to yesterday. Ever since the run-in on Laito, doing what he did already set you on edge. And to step foot into conceivable harassment and aggravation can easily ruin that.

To chill or not to chill… that is the question. You grip both forefinger and thumb between your chin, off somewhere pondering. When considerable window of time passed with a few minutes to spare, you exalted a deep sigh. Yeah, I’ma just chill...

And soon enough, goosebumps raised upon your skin, meeting with the night’s cool air and presently seated out front of the academy, settled in easily. …on this bench.

Not really keen on skipping class, but you couldn’t pass up an opportunity for peace. All you needed and you could be content. It’d been cold, but it’s manageable for another hour or so. Total ambience still, offering sweet sounds of quietude. Anticipating the gradual approaching morning without any other obstacles gave you great satisfaction. All that’s left is to wait.

Toying with the buckle of your schoolbag, your gaze suddenly lift up toward the slightly brightening sky, morning chirps of blue jays sounding near. Letting your mind drift off which instantly found itself recollecting back events that lead to here. Scrummaging through the contents inside your pack, thwarted as drew out Yui’s pink notebook. In spite of your feelings towards the whole situation, You promised that you’d return her item. You went out her way, thus far.

So you spent time on your phone playing little games  and occasionally glancing up, darkness still remain predominant with traces of illuminate blue. And in little to no time you raised your head, diverting it toward indistinct prattle nearby. Time to finally end this goose hunt. Like an overflowing water, mass of people pour out into the front and creating a sea of students covering every area, besides the carpool where others awaited their ride. How exactly are you to find Yui with everyone scattered about?

You slid around the crowd in a prospect manner, because it’s been a tedious effort and just wanted to be done for good. Alas you’re graced with no such luck lost in a horde of unfamiliar faces. All hopeful thoughts were lead into despair as the world spun at an alarming pace. Your face fell in your open palms attempting at slowing, dizziness overwhelming your mind. Once becoming stable, you slowly swept your gaze over the crowd, immediately widened a fraction, focused on a sweep of blonde hair weaving past.

“Yui! Hold on a second!” you instantly traced after the fleeting girl’s steps, trying to gain her attention. You struggled to keep up Yui’s deft pace given people were shuffled and shoved about, plus she hadn’t that issue at all. By the time You emerge at mouth of the gathering, all you  saw was Yui closing herself in a limousine, promptly driving off. You mentally facepalmed through the other end, utter disbelief that your mission ended up thwarted. “C’mon! Now you choose a time to leave?!”

Nonetheless you  didn’t allow yourself to be defeated. Might as well, since you made it this far. You sprinted off for a short moment and in short notice, spotted a guy biking toward the bike rack about to hook it up. An idea call forth in your head as you approached him.

“Excuse me.” His inclined head perked up shifted to curiously clash ruby reds against (e/c) ones. “Can I borrow that for a moment?”

His shimmery ginger locks fell with a tilt of his head. “Uhm, why?”

“My friend just left something behind and I really need to catch up. I promise to return it, it’ll only take a few minutes.”

He pondered off a bit, eventually caving in. “Alright.” And he forked his ride without any hesitation. “Just have it here before I leave to go home.”

You nodded, setting both feet on the peddles upon embarking. “You won’t even notice it missing.”

And with that you peddled by, completely missing the interest-filled irises following after you.

With crummy luck, evading oncoming cars weaving out of harm’s way, weary pedestrians crossing sidewalks, and trying to swerve and dodge the occasional birds or squirrel smackdab in your line of direction, you found yourself trailing behind Yui’s limo strangely going too fast for the speed limit. A chat was seriously needed with that chauffer of hers.

“Never in all my life went through so much hell to return a dumbass notebook!” You gasp harshly, distance between two vehicles growing lesser and lesser when all of a sudden the limousine veer sharply down a nearby lane and face falling in horror your being launched into ongoing traffic flow. “Oh fu—“

Blaring of horns directed in your direction, body reacting faster than your brain once you somewhat effectively deviated, jolting upward upon the sidewalk. The path ahead once occupied by pedestrians, cleared out when spotting you soar down the pavement, throwing out profanities while passing by. “SORRY!” you called at everybody over her shoulder.

Now back on the street, surprisingly hadn’t lost sight of the back of that black car. But as soon as you fixed your mouth to utter even a syllable, the limo picked up speed, flying five cars distance ahead, you mouth fell open.

“The hell?! Are you not worried about a speeding ticket?!” Nevertheless you remain undeterred, still cycling even faster despite your skirt and hair annoyingly fluttering in the wind. “I won’t give up so easy, so watch out!”

Minutes of this tedious pursuit and still hasn’t caught Yui’s attention. Now you began to wonder if anybody saw you in the rearview or side mirrors and simply decided to ignore you. Your speed was only enough to get behind them, trying a way to be adjacent which someone would be bound to roll down the window. At this point, you’d never see her so you rack your mind for better plans. You tried to wave a hand in the side mirror, didn’t work. Tried calling out. Didn’t work. Options were very limited and gave her nothing much to work with.

That is, until you  spotted the forest from across the street. Trees were evenly spaced out which made an easier way for transportation, whether for walking, hiking, or even biking. You got concerned about getting lost, wherever it might lead up to, but there’s entirely too much happening on the streets. Risky, though perhaps you may even jump ahead some minutes and stop her.

Zipping alongside every blurred tree, a dirt trail was spotted on the corner of your eye so you  took a chance and shifted over. This really made a turnaround compared to earlier. Was the universe trying to tell you something? You would take it into consideration and wait until later on tonight if it’s such a hassle. Looks like those plans got spoiled, in the end. You were unstoppable.

And then you knew.

“Okay, all I have to do is carefully merge into the lane and—“ you suddenly shriek as the bike lost grip of the grass surface and flew above the world appear like ants underneath. “—why?!”

Payback’s a bitch.

Regaining consciousness, you groan in pain and rolled onto your side finding yourself laying on a gravelly ground while trying best to recall the events leading up to this point. Nearby is an oddly familiar bicycle, off up ahead dark railings that seem to travel little ways ahead. It’s not until you look about and realized that this place is all but familiar. Shakily clambering up to your feet, deciding it would be in your best interest to investigate the area. You scooped up your schoolbag from the bike basket and continued onwards.

Man, that fall kicked my ass to the second power.

Faint noise could be heard up ahead, making you blink curiously. Drawing closer, you then decided to grip the black rails and peer though, officially discovering a gorgeous property, ginormous standing mansion in smackdab center. What a way to wake up, just outside of somebody’s home. And as you scrutinize beyond that, you came to realize it wasn’t just anyone’s house. From the standing point, partially distinguishing a girl dressed in a uniform of her own, clear as day once you seen blonde hair.

It’d been Yui’s manor.

“Freaking finally!” you threw your hands in joy, making a mad dash to the front gate and heading past it. “Hey, Yui! Hey!”

Now her turn to become riddled from shock at someone calling her name, she froze and whirled around wide-eyed, discovering your quickly approaching form. You happen to miss the trembling step back Yui made as you lurch your back, settling hands on both knees panting harshly to catch your breath.

“_-____? W-wha—“ she stagger for right words to say. “How d-did you find me here?”

“D-doesn’t matter.” You wave dismally as you straightened your posture, still a bit winded. Brushing knuckles over something cold and smooth to fumble around in your bag, pulling to hold out the spiral. “H-here. You left it in homeroom and...” trailing off bewildered, finding Yui retreating form, a bit of guilt and nervousness contort on her face. What’s her deal? After an entire night of madness, she was refusing you? Frustration and confusion settled effortlessly upon your features. “I looked for you at school, followed you here, and literally plummeted off a cliff—the least you can do is take this back.”

Because at this time, you should be in Irene’s limo car on your way home instead of this tomfoolery so your tolerance was little to none. But the longer you took in her demeanor, the more confused you became. With an inclination of her head, a dark shadow cast to obscure her eyes. “Y-you… didn’t look inside. …did you?” Yui’s tone had grave expectance, sending you in a disbelieving state.

“Why would I do that?” you blinked, however mentioning it compel you to flip the book to scan over words on a page. “Don’t you need this for Phy—“ And all at once, atmosphere weighing heavy in your heart. “Wha—?”

“I’m sorry…” Yui whimpered, backing closer toward the agape gloomy appearing double doors. “I really tried to warn you…”

And submerging from darkness six fleering appearances, making your pupils shrink into your sockets. Slackened grip made the thin book slip from your hands, bunching up the pages when it hit the ground.
